Range and habitat:
The Bearded barbet is found in wooded grasslands of western and central Africa.

Natural diet:
This species eats fruit and insects.

Size / weight range:
Bearded barbets grow to be 25 cm long (10 inches) and weigh 80-108g (about 3 ounces)

Interesting facts:
The hair-like feathers around the base of the birds’ bill give the appearance of a beard and are the source of their name.
This species is not threatened globally, and they are common throughout their range.
