Here at The Toledo Zoo, we love frogs. That’s why we’re proud to join with zoos and other institutions around the world in celebrating 2008 as the Year of the Frog!

Starting with a kick-off event on Friday, February 29 (Leap Day—get it?), we’ll be celebrating all things amphibian throughout 2008.

Then, hop to it on Friday, May 16 for the opening of Amazing Amphibians, the Zoo’s new exhibit. You’ll be face to face with our friends the frogs, as well as salamanders and caecilians from all over the world!

Plus, learn about all of our frog-themed EdZOOcation classes throughout the year. And be sure to join us for Dart Frog Dash, Party for the Planet, and for a frog-tastic ZOOtoDO.

On the conservation front, we’ve joined forces with Amphibian Ark, a collaborative effort between the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) and the World Conservation Union.

Amphibian Ark is dedicated to creating safe havens for frogs, protecting them from diseases such as chytrid, a deadly fungus that has already destroyed many amphibian populations around the world.
