LESSON PLANS ONLINE
Are you a teacher looking for a good science lesson
to use with your class? If that’s the case, you’ve come
to the right place. The Toledo Zoo Education Department is offering
free downloadable lessons on a variety of life science topics. Each
lesson is formatted in the 5-E format, an inquiry based, constructivist
model that is widely regarded by science educators. Additionally,
every lesson is accompanied with a checklist of the National Science
Standards linked to the lesson, so you can be sure that the lesson
will help you meet your classroom goals. A new lesson will be posted
each month so you’ll have something new to look forward to.
Finally, all past lessons will be archived for you to refer to again
and again. Have fun and watch for new postings each month.

INTERPRETIVE GUIDE WORKSHOP
Are
you interested in becoming a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG)?
Attend a four-day National Association for Interpretation (NAI)
workshop at The Toledo Zoo. The goal of this workshop is to provide
consistent, high-quality training for people who have had little
or no opportunity to learn about interpretation or who want a refresher
course on the basics of presenting interpretive programs. After
attending the workshop and passing the CIG test, you will be sent
a certificate of completion and be CIG certified through NAI. Call
Nicole Costello at 419-385-5721, ext. 2089 to register.
