Applications can be emailed to You can also pick up an application at our Zoo Administration Building, which is located at 2605 Broadway Street. The office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old to apply for a position, unless the posted job states differently. In some cases a resume may also be requested for certain open positions (see individual job postings for details).

Normal work week requires working flexible hours including weekends and holidays. Positions may require working in all weather conditions, the ability to stand for extended periods of time and walk extensively on Zoo grounds.

Part-Time Positions Currently Open

Bartenders (Part-Time) – These positions are responsible for bartending during events at various sites, following policies and procedures and working with clients to ensure customer satisfaction. May also organizes and maintains stock areas and assists with inventory/audits. Requires bartending experience, knowledge of food sanitation guidelines and exceptional customer service skills. Supervisor candidates must have at least 1-2 years supervisory food service experience. Must be available nights and weekends and be 21 years of age.

Concessions Crew (Part-Time) – Employees will work in one of our many concessions area throughout the Zoo, will work in a fast-paced environment and will have high visitor interaction. Responsibilities could include cash handling, working with food preparation, working in concession stands, and maintaining cleanliness of department. Applicants over 21 years of age may also be considered for our Kibanda stand, where alcohol is served. Outgoing personality required for all positions!

Education Programmer – Under limited supervision, responsible for deliver programming in the Toledo Zoo’s Education Department. This includes school and outreach programs, overnights, family programs, camps, tours, and interpretive programs. Positions may have a primary program focus, but all programmers will support every program type and assistance will be expected in other areas of the education department. Will be responsible for supporting all educational programming, serving as the curriculum writer for program areas, performing animal demonstrations, utilizing various types of equipment and machinery including computer, telephone, radio, vehicles, camcorder, copier, laminator and general office supplies and other duties as assigned.

Part-Time Exhibit Technician – Position requires a creative individual who will use their skills to design and assist in exhibit development. Familiarity with power tools, carpentry methods, sculpture techniques, materials, graphic design, paint, illustration, and other visual arts media. Will create components for exhibit displays and coordinate with manager on projects. Candidate will work up to an average of 20-25 hours/week.

This position requires background in the arts or visual arts field, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must also be able to provide a portfolio of previous work/projects for review. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier. Front of House Catering Supervisor (Part-Time) – This position is responsible for overseeing employees and events at various Zoo sites, including our brand new, renovated event center, Malawi. Supervisor will manage the front of house catering team, follow policies and procedures and work with clients to ensure customer satisfaction. Requires knowledge of food sanitation guidelines, exceptional customer service skills and at least 1-2 years supervisory food service experience. Must be available nights and weekends.

Grounds Crew(Part-Time) – Performs custodial and/or grounds maintenance duties for the Toledo Zoo. Work involves cleaning buildings and restrooms. In addition, provides the services necessary to maintain the cleanliness, safe conditions, sanitation, and pick-up appearance of all Zoo grounds, especially those areas open to the public. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.

Horticulture (Part-Time) – Horticulture staff maintain all of the permanent landscapes and include mowing, weeding, watering, fertilizing, mulching, planting and maintaining the annual flower beds, rake leaves, and maintain ornamental water features. They also assist with the installation and removal of the holiday lights for the Lights Before Christmas display. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.

Warehouse Merchandise/Ticketing Assistant (Part-Time) – Looking for a motivated individual to assist with receiving, tagging, picking and stocking of merchandise. This position may require lifting of up to 30 pounds continuously and 65 pounds occasionally, the ability to climb ladders as well as be on your feet for long periods of time. Experience within a warehouse environment preferred.
