To apply for a part-time or seasonal position at the Toledo Zoo, please fill out an application. You can press the button below to download a PDF version of the part-time and seasonal application to print at home and fill out. Applications can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also pick up an application at our Visitor Services office which is located at the main entrance off Anthony Wayne Trail. The office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..
Applicants must be at least 16 years old to apply for a position, unless the posted job states differently. In some cases a resume may also be requested for certain open positions (see individual job postings for details).

Aerial Adventure Supervisor and General Staff (Part-Time) Are you ready for adventure? The Zoo is looking for staff to operate our Aerial Adventure Ropes Course and Zipline. Employees must be outgoing, friendly and energetic individuals who are willing to assist and coach guests through high ropes challenges. Must be safety conscious, have good communication skills, and be comfortable working at height. Previous experience on ropes courses, rock climbing, or ziplines is a plus. General Staff must be at least 18 years old and Supervisors at least 21 years old. Pre-employment screenings required. Staff must successfully complete an Adventure Course Training held May 18th – 24th, 2017. Aerial Adventure Point of Sale and Ground Support Staff (Part-Time) – The Zoo is looking for staff to support our Aerial Adventure Ropes Course and Zip Line. Employees will be responsible for the Adventure Course Sales Hut, ensuring guest paperwork is complete, helping guests put on safety equipment, and guiding guests back to the ground on our free-fall devices. Employees must be outgoing, friendly and energetic. Extraordinary customer service and attention to detail will be key. Staff must be at least 18 years old.
Back of House Catering Crew (Part-Time) – Employees prepare food for a variety of catered events that could include banquets, picnics, weddings, special member events, public events and other catered events. Will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of department. Hiring cooks, dishwashers and cold and hot food prep staff. Previous experience working in back of house operations a plus!
Carnivore Café Crew (Part-Time) – Employees of the Cafe provide fast, friendly service to Zoo guests. Positions include deli staff, cooks, front line staff, hospitality staff, and production staff. May be responsible for maintaining cleanliness of department, running cash registers, cooking, food preparation and serving. Customer service and the ability to engage guests as well as the ability to work well on a team required.
Catering Office Assistant – (Part Time) Part Time Office Assistant is needed to assist the Catering Front of the House Managers with general office duties such as answering phone calls and voice mail, opening mail, handling any catering requests, communicating requests with managers, scheduling staff for their shifts, ordering inventory for events, scheduling interviews, and preparing for catering events. This position works directly with the Catering Front of the House Managers and customer service is a top priority. We are looking for someone who is friendly and outgoing and who has previous office administrative experience with a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Chef’s Assistant (Part-Time) – This position is responsible for overseeing the service operations of all BOH catering areas in absence of the Executive Chef and/or the Sous Chef to provide friendly, fast, and quality services to the Zoo visitors. The Chef’s Assistant will assist the Executive Chef and /or the Sous Chef in the kitchen areas of the Zoo. This position will supervise employees as well as maintain a safe and sanitary working environment for catered events. This position will also be responsible in assisting in both inventories and P/L tracking for events as needed. In addition this position will be expected to assistant/supervise in implementing new organization systems and policies with direction from Executive Chef and/or Sous Chef. Requires knowledge of food sanitation guidelines, exceptional customer service skills and at least 2-3 years supervisory food service experience. Education Programmer – Under limited supervision, responsible for deliver programming in the Toledo Zoo’s Education Department. This includes school and outreach programs, overnights, family programs, camps, tours, and interpretive programs. Positions may have a primary program focus, but all programmers will support every program type and assistance will be expected in other areas of the education department. Will be responsible for supporting all educational programming, serving as the curriculum writer for program areas, performing animal demonstrations, utilizing various types of equipment and machinery including computer, telephone, radio, vehicles, camcorder, copier, laminator and general office supplies and other duties as assigned.
Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier. First Aid/CPR certification preferred. Front of House Catering Crew (Part-Time) – Employees are responsible for set up and tear down as well as management of catered Zoo events that could include banquets, picnics, weddings, special member events, public events, concerts and other catered events. Looking to hire servers and bartenders. Catering, restaurant and food service experience a plus! Evenings and weekends required.
Grounds Crew(Part-Time) – Performs custodial and/or grounds maintenance duties for the Toledo Zoo. Work involves cleaning buildings and restrooms. In addition, provides the services necessary to maintain the cleanliness, safe conditions, sanitation, and pick-up appearance of all Zoo grounds, especially those areas open to the public. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
Membership Sales Associate (Part-Time) – Position requires approaching Zoo visitors to solicit the sale of Zoo membership’s on-grounds and will also assist with various administrative tasks. Must have experience working with computer systems and have the ability to approach guests in a fun, positive manner. Strong customer service skills required. Merchandise Crew – In-Park Merchandise and North Star Gift Shop (Part-Time) – Employees assist visitors with merchandise selections, stock merchandise, operate cash registers, maintain cleanliness of department and provide excellent customer service to Zoo guests. Customer service and retail experience a plus!
Park Operations Crew (Part-Time) – Employees take care of a variety of visitor needs throughout the Zoo and may work in the following areas; Admissions, Parking Lot, Rides, Cashier, Zoo Exhibits (Aquarium Touch Tank, Penguin walkthrough and Galapagos Tortoise exhibits). Will also assist with event set up and clean up and provide excellent customer service to all Zoo guests. These positions require outgoing, friendly and energetic individuals who engage guests throughout the park while maintaining the safety of both guest and animals.
Security (Part-Time) – Effectively carry out safety and security policies that provide for protection of visitors, employees, animals and zoo assets. Duties will include but are not limited to monitoring and reporting on the following: air & water temperatures, water filtration systems, intruder/fire detection and camera surveillance equipment. Prefer candidates with coursework related to criminal justice, law enforcement or fire science. Positions are for 2nd shift and the midnight shift. Warehouse (Part-Time) – Employees are responsible for stocking shelves, unloading shipments and conducting pickup and deliveries on and off Zoo grounds.
