Celebrate the Zoo's new Australian animals!
Wild Walkabout Opening ceremony and weekend festivities:
Friday, May 24:
• 10am Zoo opens
• 10am - 11am Toledo School for the Arts will be welcoming visitors at Blade Plaza with their classic steel drum band Glass City Steel and their sky-high pageant puppets representing Australian animals. Toledo School for the Arts will also be offering free Australian-themed face painting in Skeldon Plaza from 10am - 11am.
• 10:15 am Grand opening ceremony begins (Skeldon Plaza)
Speakers include:
• Toledo Zoo Executive Director & CEO Jeff Sailer;
• Toledo Zoo President of the Board Mary Ellen Pisanelli;
• Lucas County Commissioner Tina Skeldon Wozniak; and
• retired Australian diplomat (Mr.) Lindsay Smith
Ceremony also features a brief performance by E:NFP
• 10:45 am Ramblin Renie and Outback Jack perform (Skeldon Plaza)
• 11 am – 2 p.m. Toledo Zoo Australian-themed Educational Activities (Skeldon Plaza)
• 12 – 2 p.m. Hands-on art activities with The Toledo Museum of Art (Skeldon Plaza)
• 12 pm Ramblin Renie and Outback Jack perform (Skeldon Plaza)
• 12:30 pm Performance by E:NFP (Main Plaza):
An interactive performance that includes singing, dance and storytelling
• 2 pm Keeper Tales: Australia (Fisher-Price Little People Discovery Stage, Nature’s Neighborhood)
Saturday, May 25:
• 10 am, 11 am & 12 pm TSA Glass City Steel, along with performance puppets (Blade Plaza)
• 10:30 am – 3:30 pm Toledo Zoo Australian-themed Educational Activities (Skeldon Plaza)
• 11 am Sounds of the Didgeridu by David Leavitt (across from Carnivore Café)
