Celebrate Earth Day at the Zoo!
Saturday, April 20
Here at the Zoo, we’re all about being good stewards of the environment. That’s why Earth Day is such a big deal around here. Celebrate with us by bringing in your recyclables and taking part in cool activities that help you learn how to be a little “greener” in the future. Also, watch animal feeding demonstrations and meet some of our keepers.
Animal enrichment schedule:
10:30 am: Gorilla Enrichment at Gorilla Meadow
11 am: Primate Enrichment at Primate Forest
11:30 am: Penguin Feeding at Penguin Exhibit in Tiger Terrace
1:15 pm: Hippo Feeding at Hippoquarium®
1:15 pm: Wolf Enrichment at Wolves Exhibit
1:30 pm: Polar Bear Enrichment at Arctic Encounter®
2 pm: Vulture Enrichment at Cinereous Vultures exhibit
2:15 pm: Education Animal Demo at Nature’s Neighborhood - Discovery Stage
2:30 pm: African Wild Dog Enrichment at Wild Dog Exhibit - Africa!
3 pm: Spider Feed at Nature’s Neighborhood
3:30: pm Snake Feed at the Reptile House
4 pm: Bird Feed at Nature’s Neighborhood Aviary
Radio Disney will be in the Main Plaza from 10am to 4pm with music, games, and prizes.
Win a nature video from BBC Home Entertainment!
Check out our Facebook page to find out about Party for the Planet’s “phrase that pays” and you can be entered to win one of three different videos produced by BBC Home Entertainment. You could win Africa on DVD, or the recently released DVD and Blu-Ray set for One Life which features stories of survival from the natural world. If you don’t have access to Facebook we are also doing a general drawing in Nature’s Neighborhood (contest entry box will be in the Workshop). We will give away one copy of each DVD/Blu-Ray set. Winners will be drawn on Saturday, April 20 and notified by phone.

All items mentioned below can be dropped off between 10 am and 4 pm in the Zoo’s main parking lot off Anthony Wayne Trail:

• Other working electronics
• Vacuum cleaners
• Old Christmas lights
• Jeans & jean-material clothing

• Paper & secure documents for shredding
• Phone books
• Plastic bags
• Plastic bottles
• Print cartridges**
• Cell phones**
• Tires – up to 10 passenger tires (on or off rims); residents only – NO businesses
• Televisions (maximum size 32 inch screen)
*Please separate out these items before you arrive – they will be handled by different recyclers.
**Supports Toledo Zoo conservation initiatives.
NO LARGE APPLIANCES, OR AIR CONDITIONING UNITS will be accepted this year.
