Tame the monkeys in your head with a relaxing morning among our beautiful gardens and aquatic exhibits!

Help support the Zoo’s native prairie and horticultural programs while getting your Zen on at Namaste for Nature – yoga at the Toledo Zoo. As you connect with nature during this one-hour session, your participation directly benefits our conservation efforts both within our community and across the globe.


Classes will be held from 9-10 a.m. on four consecutive Saturdays in September and led by certified yoga instructors from Toledo-area studios. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothing and bring their own yoga mat and bottle of water. Advanced registration is required and is limited to 90 participants. Participants must be at least 16 years of age.


All participants will be entered to win a Luminous Nights visit package including 2 adult admission tickets, parking pass and 2 drink tickets! One package will be drawn at the conclusion of each yoga session. Winner must be present.

$20 for Toledo Zoo members; $25 for nonmembers (includes admission and parking)

Leslie Chapman – Toledo Yoga

Leslie Chapman is the owner of Toledo Yoga. She is an E-RYT 200 and RYT 500 through Yoga Alliance. Leslie has been a mentor for Africa Yoga Project since 2014 working to support the grown and development of yoga programs in Rwanda. She has trained and completed Baptiste Institute’s Level One, Level Two, Level Three, and Art of Assisting programs as well as 100 hours of Rocket Yoga training. She is a faculty member for Green Monkey Yoga in South Florida and trains students from all over the world to teach yoga. Leslie teaches power yoga, slow ow and restorative yoga classes weekly at Toledo Yoga and also serves as the yoga instructor for the University of Toledo Athletics.

Diana Spiess – Essence Mind Body Studio

Diana has worked in the fitness and wellness industry for 26 years. She studied recreational therapy and kinesiotherapy at the University of Toledo where she began teaching fitness classes after completing an intensive training program at the Student Recreational Center. Diana received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toledo with a focus on Health and Wellness. Throughout the past 26 years, Diana has acquired numerous certifications and credentials that span the wide scope of fitness, athletic training, clinical needs, rehabilitation, stress management, and therapies of many kinds. Diana’s credentials include 6 ACE (American Council on Exercise) Certifications, including Certified Medical Exercise Specialist and Certified Crystal Healer, Level II Full Scott Pilates Certification, E-RYT Certified/Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance and RYS Yoga School, C-IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist, Certified Reiki Master, Board Certified Holistic Alternative Psychology Master, Board Certified Sound Therapy Practitioner with Soma Energetics, Certified Vibrational Sound Therapist through VSA, TRX Suspension Trainer Certified Instructor/Trainer, Johnny G. 3 Star Certified Spinning Instructor, IIA Certified Clinical and Therapeutic Aromatherapist, and IIN Certified Health Coach.

Phoebe Sloan – Tonic

Phoebe has been a yoga practitioner for over 20 years. Beginning in junior high school, She and her dad took classes in the Iyengar tradition at the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg. It was there that she began to realize the benefits of yoga, not only on herself but in the diversity of age groups in the class. In 2007 she was certified to teach at the 200 level through Yoga Works in Seattle, WA, where she began teaching. She eventually moved back to Ohio to be closer to her family, where she found Tonic and is teaching classes several times a week there. She has most recently become a certified Relax and Renew Restorative Yoga teacher, studying under Judith Hanson Lasater in San Francisco, Ca.

Hope Dalrymple – Yogaja Yoga

Hope loves teaching and practicing yoga as a way to reach new levels of mental, physical, and spiritual fitness. Her classes include a balance of strength building and flexibility with sequences and postures that will spark your inner power. You will receive hands-on assists, precise alignment cues and time for deep relaxation.

Hope is a Certified Aerial Yoga Instructor and completed 200RYT at Yogaja Yoga in 2016 with Brent Divine.
