Service Animal Policy

Toledo Zoo welcomes service animals and complies with ADA Title III regulations. Service animals are defined as dogs or miniature horses, individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. The service animal must be under the control of its handler. Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual’s disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the service animal’s safe, effective performance of tasks. If the service animal is out of control and the handler does not take effective action to control it, the animal may be excluded and asked to leave the premises. The owner is still welcome to visit. Additionally, if the service animals’ presence causes the zoo’s animals to alter their behavior, causing them to behave more aggressively or become agitated, they may be asked to be removed from that area.

Comfort Animal Policy

For the health and safety of the animals at the Toledo Zoo, emotional support, therapy, or comfort animals are not permitted on the zoo’s premises.
