Range and habitat:
Blue-bellied rollers are native to western Africa (where they are widespread and common).

Natural diet:
These birds feed on small reptiles and invertebrates and will even eat some flying insects captured in flight.

Size / weight range:
Blue-bellied rollers grow to be 15 inches and weigh 110-190 g (3.9-6.7 oz.). They are dark blue with black back and creamy to tan head and breast.

Interesting facts:
Blue-bellied rollers are named for the blue color on their bodies, as well as the “rolling” behavior noticed in their courtship ritual while flying.
