The Toledo Zoo is one of the world’s most complete zoos—it’s also the region’s top family destination! Let The Toledo Zoo take you from the Arctic tundra to the wilds of Africa, from the tropical rainforest to the Sonoran Desert and all points between—all in one great day.
Each year nearly one million people come to The Toledo Zoo to experience the wonders of the natural world, stroll our beautiful grounds and explore our historic WPA-era buildings. As you do, you’ll encounter animals ranging from mammoth African elephants and majestic bald eagles to tiny toads and and even insects and spiders. For more than 100 years, The Toledo Zoo has engaged and inspired countless families and created memories that carry on for generations. Toledo Zoo Mission and Accreditations
Inspiring others to join us in caring for animals and conserving the natural world.
As our mission statement indicates, the Toledo Zoo is committed to providing excellent care for our animals, as well as conserving the natural world. We are implementing multiple green practices in our operations, and several members of our staff are highly involved with conservation efforts, both local and international. We are working to preserve endangered and threatened species from butterflies and birds to toads and elephants. Fully accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), The Toledo Zoo is involved with breeding animals through the Species Survival Program that is helping to ensure a future for some truly amazing species.
The Toledo Zoo is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium has earned the highest rating possible, four stars, from Charity Navigator. This is in recognition of our commitment to sound fiscal management, accountability, and transparency.

The Toledo Zoo will consider donating 2 one-day admission passes (good for any daytime visit during the calendar year the tickets were issued) or a one-year membership to qualifying non-profit organizations (or groups sponsored by them) to be used as prizes or auction items for events or fundraising activities.
