Go Green and Wild at the Toledo Zoo

TOLEDO, Ohio — Join the Toledo Zoo in celebrating Mother Earth and exemplifying our mission of inspiring others to join us in caring for animals and conserving the natural world during Party for the Planet on Saturday, April 27.

Drop off your recyclable goods – including hard-to-recycle items– between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Zoo’s Anthony Wayne Trail parking lot. Admission/parking charges do not apply to this special recycling project, which is made possible through partnerships with: Goodwill, AIM Ecycling, LLC., KTLCB/Lucas County Waste Management, City of Toledo Department of Neighbors, American Paint Recyclers, Gateway Recycling and Waste Reduction, Inc., and TerraCycle.

Car tires (up to 10 per group)
Small appliances, microwave ovens, telephones
Electronics, computer accessories, DVD & VHS players*
Secure document destruction and recycling+
Jeans and other clothing
Paper, phone books, newspapers
Aluminum cans
Printer cartridges (toner and ink)
Cell phones
TerraCycle items- including food pouches, cereal & chip bags, beauty & oral care packaging
Paint cans will be collected at Woodsdale Park from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. for $1/gallon container.
*Televisions, CRT monitors, refrigerators, large appliances, air conditioners, light bulbs and batteries will NOT be accepted.
+Documents will be destroyed offsite following the event.

As well as dropping off your recyclables, the Zoo is the perfect place to spend a great green day with your family! Get tips on how to be more ecofriendly through displays from local “green” organizations, enjoy earth-friendly activities and witness animal feeding demonstrations all across the Zoo. These demonstrations are more than just fun to watch; they also serve to remind us that animals all across the world are relying on humans to take care of the land, water and air we all call home. All of the green activities are included free with Zoo admission.
