Toledo Zoo Celebrates 125th Anniversary with Special Events and the Return of the Orchid Show

TOLEDO, Ohio – In 2025, the Toledo Zoo proudly marks its 125th anniversary, celebrating a legacy of conservation, education, and community connection. Kicking off this milestone year is the much-anticipated return of the Orchid Show, a beloved tradition inviting guests to escape winter’s gray skies and immerse themselves in a vibrant world of exotic blooms.
From Feb. 7-23, 2025, visitors can experience the Orchid Show on weekends—Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.—in the ProMedica Museum of Natural History. The show, included with half-off Zoo admission during this period, features over 2,000 exotic orchid species showcasing breathtaking colors, captivating scents and fascinating stories from around the globe.
This year’s Orchid Show includes hands-on activities for all ages:
- Workshops and Classes: Learn how to care for orchids, photograph their beauty or create a mini terrarium.
- Special Events: Enjoy Blooms & Bubbly, an elegant evening of champagne tasting with small plates, or Slow Brew, a relaxed coffee-sampling experience with live music. (Special events and workshops require separate tickets.)
To commemorate the event, the Orchid Show Plant Sale will take place on March 1, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the ProMedica Museum of Natural History Great Hall, offering the public the chance to take home their own orchid treasures.
As part of the Zoo’s 125th anniversary celebration, guests can look forward to more exciting events throughout the year, including:
- Aquarium 10-Year Anniversary Celebration: March 29
- 125th Zoo Birthday Bash & Summer Season Kickoff: May 24-25
- 125 Years of Impact Symposium & Legacy Gala: October 21-23
These events will honor the Zoo’s historic milestones and highlight its vision for the future.
